A tweet from the Rapids

"Everything the light touches is our fortress."

Yoshou - So, the press box and box suites, but not the stands, nor the field? Hmm.. Okay.. That might explain why they've done so poorly lately...

Dirt McGirt - Concession stand and bathroom fort.

Landon Donovan's indoor soccer debut with San Diego Sockers

(by Jeff Carlisle espnfc.com 2-17-19)

The play was vintage Landon Donovan. A right-footed pass took three defenders and the goalkeeper out of the play, allowing a teammate to score at the far post. The crowd roared, his teammates celebrated.

At which point, one could not help but notice the surroundings. The venue was not Dignity Health Sports Park, the renamed home of Donovan's beloved LA Galaxy. Nor was it any of the World Cup venues he has graced over the years. Rather, it was the 62-year-old Pechanga Arena -- formerly the San Diego Sports Arena -- a venue that, to put it kindly, is somewhat lacking in charm.

NYCFC pigeon

This year each team added a separate little image at the bottom of their shirts.

Most teams' images were not that creative in my opinion.

But I have to give credit to NYCFC for the pigeon, I like it a lot. Good job.

Messi's holiday in Rosario again fuels hope of a return home to play for Newell's Old Boys

(by Tom Marshall espn.go.com 12-28-18)

There's only one place Lionel Messi and his family go to spend Christmas, and it isn't Ibiza, Los Angeles or Monte Carlo.

The Argentine might have lived in Barcelona since he was 13 years old, but every Christmas, he and his family return to their native city of Rosario. This year was no exception.
